CHILD'S ORAL HYGIENE

Paying attention to oral hygiene should be started at the latest when the first tooth is erupting.

TOOTH BRUSHING

It is the parents' responsibility to make sure the child's teeth are clean. At the age of 7, the responsibility of brushing can be gradually transferred to a child.

The teeth should be brushed twice a day, every day so that tooth brushing will become a daily routine. A toothbrush with soft bristles and a little brush is suitable for children.

FLUOR

Fluor is the most important component in preventing caries. It improves oral health by hardening enamel of erupting teeth. The recommendation for children under 3 years is to use a tiny amount of fluor containing toothpaste for every second brushing - once a day.

In Finland a child's toothpaste contains 1100 ppm of fluor.
